Biweekly Pay Calculator

Biweekly = every two weeks = 26 checks most years — each check is salary ÷ 26. But 2026 is a quirk year: A 365-day year fits 27 biweekly paydays only when the first payday lands on Jan 1 (Jan 1 + 26×14 days = Dec 31). 2026 starts on a Thursday: Thursday-payday schedules anchored January 1 get 27 paydays.

Biweekly pay = annual salary ÷ 26. $60,000 → $2,307.69 per check. Semi-monthly (24 checks) would be $2,500 — bigger checks, fewer of them, same year.

The 27-paycheck quirk, 2026 edition

A 365-day year fits 27 biweekly paydays only when the first payday lands on Jan 1 (Jan 1 + 26×14 days = Dec 31). 2026 starts on a Thursday: Thursday-payday schedules anchored Jan 1 hit 27 checks; common Friday schedules starting Jan 2 get 26 — unless the Jan 1, 2027 payday is processed early on Dec 31, which drags a 27th check into 2026. In a 27-check year employers either divide salary by 27 (same annual total, smaller checks) or pay 26 regular checks plus one extra; per-check benefit and 401(k) deductions need re-timing either way.

Frequently asked questions

How much is $60,000 biweekly?

$2,307.69 per check (÷26). If your employer runs a 27-check year, checks recalculated as ÷27 drop to $2,222.22 — same annual total.

Why did I get three paychecks this month?

Biweekly = 26 checks across 12 months, so two months each year contain three paydays. Budgeters treat the third check as a windfall month.

Is biweekly the same as semi-monthly?

No — biweekly is every 14 days (26/year); semi-monthly is twice a month on fixed dates (24/year). Same salary, different check sizes: ÷26 vs ÷24.

Will I get 27 paychecks in 2026?

Only if your payday is Thursday and the first one fell on January 1, 2026 — or if your employer processes the Friday Jan 1, 2027 payday early on Dec 31. Otherwise 2026 is a normal 26-check year.
